Pennsylvania Holiday Road Trip


Started our Christmas break Pennsylvania road trip, had lunch at Tommy’s Pizza in Gettysburg with the M family (originally Ben’s cousin’s friends in Chicago and now we attend the same church as H’s parents in Annapolis)

We took the free factory tour at Hershey’s Chocolate World (and saw the cow named Mocha) and sampled warm drinking chocolates from around the world at The Hershey Story museum. The Mr. Goodbar display reminded me of my (Vicki’s) mom. It was her favorite. She used to pick them out of the mini variety pack. I never realized they came out around the time she was born.


Bummer, Independence Hall tickets were sold out for today, so we ended up at the Franklin Institute science museum in Philly.

Book Club Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane

Enjoyed NASCC (spouse club) book club last night. We discussed Lisa See’s The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane while sampling authentic pu-erh tea from the exact remote region of China where the book is set (thanks to Bana Tea’s book club tasting guide). It’s interesting, the author’s friend owns the Bana tea company and it is located on Colima Rd, just down the hill from my sister’s family and near Ben’s aunt and uncle in Hacienda Heights, CA. I’ll have to check it out the next time I’m there...I attempted to make sticky rice in the rice cooker (and turn them into rice balls to make it finger food) and also a marinated olive and cheese plate.
