Spouse Club Book Club Christmas Party


I enjoyed our last spouse club book club meeting of the year, a Christmas party, hosted in Christine's beautifully decorated home. We held an unusual and ecofriendly gift exchange consisting of "a well-loved used book from your bookshelf". The Chip Gaines' book was stolen from me and I ended up with a book called Lost by Gregory Maguire, the author of Wicked. I gave the book Grit by Angela Duckworth.

Book Club Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane

Enjoyed NASCC (spouse club) book club last night. We discussed Lisa See’s The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane while sampling authentic pu-erh tea from the exact remote region of China where the book is set (thanks to Bana Tea’s book club tasting guide). It’s interesting, the author’s friend owns the Bana tea company and it is located on Colima Rd, just down the hill from my sister’s family and near Ben’s aunt and uncle in Hacienda Heights, CA. I’ll have to check it out the next time I’m there...I attempted to make sticky rice in the rice cooker (and turn them into rice balls to make it finger food) and also a marinated olive and cheese plate.
