He's home from deployment! And so is she!


So thankful that he's home! ✈️ 🏡  I picked up my daughter after her college service project in WV, stopped at the food court near Hmart in Catonsville, then headed to the airport. She told me stories about visiting patients at the VA hospital, even in the hospice ward. One of the veterans gave her a card that he made. It was funny, Ben was describing the delicious lamb chops and chicken tikka he had with John K. in Bahrain vs. her food was vegan on the trip to WV. She survived being vegan AND having no internet for 5 days! Haha! No, she said the vegan food was also delicious and they worked on the property cleaning and weeding in the garden. — at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

Book Club Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane

Enjoyed NASCC (spouse club) book club last night. We discussed Lisa See’s The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane while sampling authentic pu-erh tea from the exact remote region of China where the book is set (thanks to Bana Tea’s book club tasting guide). It’s interesting, the author’s friend owns the Bana tea company and it is located on Colima Rd, just down the hill from my sister’s family and near Ben’s aunt and uncle in Hacienda Heights, CA. I’ll have to check it out the next time I’m there...I attempted to make sticky rice in the rice cooker (and turn them into rice balls to make it finger food) and also a marinated olive and cheese plate.
