Veterans Day Lunch

I'm behind on updating my digital scrapbook for lazy moms (AKA Facebook/Instagram posts, haha!). This was two Fridays ago 11/10/17, AFTER this son's twice-a-year, in-person homeschool portfolio review at the county school board office and Ben's day off for Veterans Day. We had lunch at Seafood Palace Buffet. It's hard to believe that this might be our second to the last portfolio review in Maryland if we end up moving (maybe/hopefully) to Hawaii in August, minus the 2 middle kids who would still be on the mainland in college.

Book Club Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane

Enjoyed NASCC (spouse club) book club last night. We discussed Lisa See’s The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane while sampling authentic pu-erh tea from the exact remote region of China where the book is set (thanks to Bana Tea’s book club tasting guide). It’s interesting, the author’s friend owns the Bana tea company and it is located on Colima Rd, just down the hill from my sister’s family and near Ben’s aunt and uncle in Hacienda Heights, CA. I’ll have to check it out the next time I’m there...I attempted to make sticky rice in the rice cooker (and turn them into rice balls to make it finger food) and also a marinated olive and cheese plate.
