A Morning in DC

Killing time in DC this morning while waiting for middle son to be a “Terp for a Day” and shadow a student at UMD (University of Maryland College Park). Parked on campus and took the Metro to DC. Stopped by the Freer Sackler Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art. Then had lunch at the Department of Agriculture (USDA) Cafeteria.

Book Club Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane

Enjoyed NASCC (spouse club) book club last night. We discussed Lisa See’s The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane while sampling authentic pu-erh tea from the exact remote region of China where the book is set (thanks to Bana Tea’s book club tasting guide). It’s interesting, the author’s friend owns the Bana tea company and it is located on Colima Rd, just down the hill from my sister’s family and near Ben’s aunt and uncle in Hacienda Heights, CA. I’ll have to check it out the next time I’m there...I attempted to make sticky rice in the rice cooker (and turn them into rice balls to make it finger food) and also a marinated olive and cheese plate.
