Club Errands

Last Friday Lisa, Sally and I ran some errands for the spouse club by dropping off canned food from the Food Drive at the Lighthouse homeless shelter and buying necessities for the Fisher House from fundraiser funds. Then we stopped for lunch at the Lighthouse Bistro, a wonderful new restaurant/job training program for homeless people. — at Light House Bistro.

Book Club Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane

Enjoyed NASCC (spouse club) book club last night. We discussed Lisa See’s The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane while sampling authentic pu-erh tea from the exact remote region of China where the book is set (thanks to Bana Tea’s book club tasting guide). It’s interesting, the author’s friend owns the Bana tea company and it is located on Colima Rd, just down the hill from my sister’s family and near Ben’s aunt and uncle in Hacienda Heights, CA. I’ll have to check it out the next time I’m there...I attempted to make sticky rice in the rice cooker (and turn them into rice balls to make it finger food) and also a marinated olive and cheese plate.
