Book Club: A Man Called Ove while Eating Paella

We read my new favorite book A Man Called Ove in my spouse club's Book Club and I had to try authentic Spanish paella made by Trini's husband. The bottom left 3 women represented our international spouses...Their husbands serve in the Brazilian, Spanish, and German navies, respectively. Sadly for us, they will be returning to their homelands this summer. As someone intrigued by kitchen gadgets, I had to ask Trini about this machine I'd never seen before. It's called a Thermomix and is popular in Europe.

Book Club Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane

Enjoyed NASCC (spouse club) book club last night. We discussed Lisa See’s The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane while sampling authentic pu-erh tea from the exact remote region of China where the book is set (thanks to Bana Tea’s book club tasting guide). It’s interesting, the author’s friend owns the Bana tea company and it is located on Colima Rd, just down the hill from my sister’s family and near Ben’s aunt and uncle in Hacienda Heights, CA. I’ll have to check it out the next time I’m there...I attempted to make sticky rice in the rice cooker (and turn them into rice balls to make it finger food) and also a marinated olive and cheese plate.
